Summer activities for children and youth

Several of our museums offer exciting activities for children and youth this summer.

Here is an overview of activities for children and youth at our museums this summer. Please note that we have free admission for children and youth every Saturday.


The Explorer’s Bag
A bag that can be borrowed by families visiting Stavanger Museum. It contains equipment that can be used in the museum’s exhibitions to create a more sensory visit for young children. The contents are cleaned after each user group is finished.

Activity Booklet
Due to the need for increased protection during the pandemic, the museum shop sells coloured pencils and a colouring book with birds and figures from Alle barnas ønskebokb [Every Child’s Wish Book].

Clue Trail
Stavanger Museum offers family-friendly clue trails in the museum’s exhibitions. Following the clue trails, you can immerse yourself in the history of childhood, natural history, and the history of Stavanger.

Guided Tours
Join our family-friendly guided tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 pm. We’ll visit either the natural history exhibitions or the culture history exhibitions at Stavanger Museum. Contact the receptionist for booking.


Guided tours of ‘In the Clouds’
Join a guided tour of the exhibition ‘In the Clouds’ on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12 noon. The tours are led by our professional art educators. Order tickets through our webpage/ticket co.

Activity Package
Choose between four different activity packages for children. NOK 50 per package, for many hours of creative activity in our children’s workshop, Studio Nona.

Stripe Art
Become a part of Jacob Dahlgren’s stripe art! Put on a striped shirt; we’ll take a picture of you and you become a part of the art!


Activity Trail
Children can explore the museum by following an activity trail that will acquaint them with Stavanger’s maritime history and give insight into what some of Stavanger’s workplaces were typically like a century ago.

Colour the ship models we have in the exhibition, or the museum itself!
