Revtangen Bird Observatory

Revtangen Bird Observatory was established in 1937. It is one of the oldest bird observatories in the Nordic countries, and the historical data it has amassed is of great value to researchers because it provides a basis for long-term comparisons of, among other things, bird reproduction and survival, the timing of migration and migration routes. The activity is concentrated on ringing passerines in the station garden, and waders at Revtangen itself. The running of the station has high priority during migration season, especially on days when weather conditions are good for capturing birds. Each year between 6-12,000 birds are captured and ringed.
